ABOUT
Security Engineer,
Songwriter, Storyteller,
Lifelong Student of Life's Paths
Sometimes the best roads are the ones you never planned to take. Security engineering paid the bills, but writing gave me a way to explore the stories, memories, and moments that matter most.
My Story
For more than twenty years I've worked in the security engineering field, helping organizations protect the systems, data, and people they depend on every day. Security is a profession built on solving problems, managing risk, and constantly keeping one eye on what might happen next.
I've enjoyed the work and the challenges that come with it, but after spending decades in front of computer screens, working with products, systems, and technology, I found myself looking for something different. I needed a creative outlet that would allow me to step away from the technical world and exercise a different side of my mind.
That outlet became writing.
The Human Side of Security
Songwriting wasn't where the journey started. It began with a book.
I started writing about the human side of security and how security teams should be viewed within organizations. Too often they're seen as the people who say "no." I've always believed security should be viewed differently. Good security teams help build trust, protect information, and support the people who depend on those systems.
By the time I took a break from the project, I had written nearly twenty thousand words and discovered something unexpected: I genuinely enjoyed writing.
One Song Changed Everything
While taking a break from the book, I decided to write a song for my wife as a Mother's Day gift. I wasn't trying to become a songwriter. I simply wanted to create something meaningful.
When she read the lyrics, she encouraged me to keep writing. She told me the words carried emotion and painted a picture. So I wrote another song.
For that second song, I experimented with AI-generated music and vocals to bring the lyrics to life. Suddenly the words weren't just words on a page anymore. They became something people could hear and experience.
Friends and family reacted strongly to the songs, commenting on the emotion and storytelling within the lyrics. Before long, one song became several and songwriting became something my wife and I enjoyed doing together.
From One Album to Two
After sharing a few songs with friends, one of them jokingly said, "I want an album by Christmas."
At first it sounded impossible. Then I realized I was already halfway there.
Ten songs later I had completed my first album. Those songs were entirely my own lyrics and ideas, brought to life through music and vocals. What began as a creative escape quickly turned into something much bigger.
Ten songs became twenty. One album became two. Eventually I released both through DistroKid and made them available on major streaming platforms.
What I Believe
Stories Matter
Stories preserve moments that time would otherwise erase.
Songs Matter
Songs are memories set to music and should reflect emotion.
People Matter
Life is measured by the relationships we build and the moments we share.
Authenticity Matters
People may admire perfection, but they remember honesty.
"The stories we carry become the foundation we stand on."
Whether you arrived because of a song, a story, a reflection, or simple curiosity, I'm glad you're here. I hope something on these pages reminds you of your own journey and the stories worth remembering along the way.
